The Great Sandwich Debate II

Montoya with JM's ice cream sandwich
The Great Sandwich Debate resurfaced at JM Curley’s last night as me and my co-workers sat around a cozy corner table snacking on mouth watering salmon sliders, crunchy fried pickles and hot, buttered cornbread.  Challenging my co-worker Montoya on whether a burrito is a sandwich, his beginning argument was that it isn’t.  We discussed tacos and burritos and their similarities to wraps, and by the end of the discussion, we were not only full and happily buzzed, but also equal opportunity sandwich aficionados.  In fact, at the end of the discussion, Montoya had convinced himself that a banana is a sandwich!

The charming gastropub resonates a contagious energetic, professional-meets-real-world vibe.  Although the bar is small and there is often a long wait for a table or bar seat, it’s worth it.  Carefully constructed, the unique food menu did not disappoint.  We enjoyed everything we ordered, and that’s saying a lot since we ordered nearly everything on the menu.  The burgers are delicious and perfectly juicy, but if I had to choose one item to jump in front of a moving train for, it would be the salmon sliders.  House cured salmon is paired with minty cream cheese, cucumber slaw and red onion jam, all sandwiched between a brioche roll.  The mini sandwich is cool to the taste, but the flavors hum together in perfect harmony.  Now one of my top 3 sliders of all time (in the ranks of 21A’s burger slider and Island Creek’s oyster slider), the salmon slider is unlike anything I’ve tried before.  I’m actually going back tonight for more!
